Adrafinil Overview
Adrafinil keeps a Mac awake while an AI coding agent is working, even with the lid closed, and lets it sleep again as soon as the work is done. Hooks tell it when agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Aider, Cline and others start and finish a task. It tracks several agents at once, and your Mac only goes to sleep after the last one ends. You can also hold the Mac awake for a set time, or let it sleep at any moment.
Safety is built in: a heat cutout lets the Mac sleep if it gets too warm with the lid closed, and holds left behind by abandoned sessions are released automatically. Adrafinil can also show a summary of activity and temperature when you open the lid. Closed-lid operation needs a small helper that an administrator approves once. Adrafinil is made by Mado Kagerou, the maker of Phosphene, and is free and open source under the MIT license. Version 1.13.1 needs macOS 26.4 or later.
